Contest rules and submission guidelines for anthology chapbooks:

Welcome to Debut Press! Our poetry contests are open to all poets around the world, and all levels of experience. Your submissions may not be published publicly and must be written on the themed subject, (unless you're entering an open poetry contest with no theme attached). We have a "FAQ" page that goes into more detail about the poetry we are looking for.The maximum limit of 30 lines is for your poetry, please include your contact information with the poem also. We are online submission only at this time, using PayPal to complete our entry fee transactions.



Entering Contests:

Step 1. You may enter a contest by using the PayPal button. It is the merchant account that millions of people use everyday to pay someone else who has a valid email address with either credit/debit card or checking account. If you do not have a Paypal account that's fine, please disregard the login part of the page. You may proceed with the "continue" link by the small credit card icons, that will appear on the page after you have clicked your contest button.

Step 2.  Please use the Paypal buttons to the right to select your contest/contests you'd like to enter. After you have paid for your entry you will receive an email from Paypal confirming your payment. Please write this number down, you will need to enter it on the Contest Upload Page with your poem.


Once you have your Paypal transaction ID or Receipt Number, you may use this link Contest Upload Page to submit your entry.


Step 3. The entry fee is $5.00/poem. If you wish to enter more than one poem, be sure to change the correct number in the quantity box. After the transaction, you will be sent to the entry form or upload page.

Step 4. All transactions are final. Debut Press will not refund entry fees for any reason.

By submitting your written work, you agree to the following; Debut Press is copyrighted but not a registered press. Debut Press retains First North American Serial Rights, First Electronic Rights, Electronic Archival Rights (meaning the entire issue in which your work appears may be stored in electronic form for public inspection after original publication), and the right to reprint the entire issue in which your work appears, either in printed or electronic format. All other rights to works appearing in Debut Press revert to said authors upon publication. This means that if we wish to republish a work in a format that separates the piece from the original issue, we must first seek your approval and consent. We ask acknowledgement for works subsequently published elsewhere after initially appearing in Debut Press. By submitting works for consideration, authors acknowledge that the works submitted are their own original works and are products of their own design. Authors further agree that we have the right to request additional information regarding the source(s) of the work and any related topic thereof.
